DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR
For Machu Picchu Explore we’ll wait for you in the airport of Cusco, and then you’ll be transferred to the designated hotel; the hotel is located near the main square. The transfer will last for 20 minutes. Once in the hotel you’ll be served a cup of Coca tea and while you enjoy your tea our staff will give you the briefing of the tour.
The following days our tourist bus and the Guide will always pick you up from the hotel and take you in the tour according the itinerary; in this tour is included all necessary things (Transportation, hotels, entrance fees, tour guide); except lunches, dinners and personal expenses. All breakfast are inclusive in the hotels. For your lunch and dinner we will assist you.
The tour we’ll be in English if you prefer other language let us to now at the time of your booking.
It’s very important to take with you a small bag pack for your tours where you can carry your jacket, camera, water and snacks. The big bag you’ll leave in the hotel.
The tour is of maximum of 12 people in the group, except for the sacred valley tour the size of the group can be up to 16 or 18 the group.
Our Machu Picchu Explore have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local and operational conditions may vary and unforeseen circumstances can arise, the following itinerary should be used as a guideline.
Day 1: Cusco
Arrive to at any time; however, we must know your flight details for your reception and transfer to your hotel where you will receive a briefing about the trip. In the afternoon, you can do an optional guided city tour from 01:30 to 06:30 p.m.
Day 2: Sacred valley of the Incas
A full-day guided tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In the afternoon, we’ll board the tourist train to the town of “Aguas Calientes” and accommodation in the hotel.
Day 3: Machu Picchu
Take the bus at 06:00 a.m up to Machu Picchu and explore full-day; includes 2 hours and half of the guided tour.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain
After breakfast, you will return to Ollantaytambo by train then to Cusco. Free afternoon.
Day 5: Transfer out
We’ll transfer you to the airport or bus terminal. It depends on your itinerary.

DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival to Cusco
Machu Picchu Explore begins once you arrive to Cusco at any time.
However, we must know your flight details for your reception and transfer to your hotel where you will receive the briefing about the trip. In the afternoon, you optionally can do the guided city tour with experienced guide from 01:30 p.m to 06:30 p.m.
Day 2: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – “Aguas Calientes”
The Sacred Valley tour starts at 08:300 a.m; once we pick you up from the hotel and travel toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas in our tourist bus. Sacred Valley was the agricultural larder of Cusco in Inca times; an important source of food for the Incas, It is a lush of agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cusco with much of its produce: especially vegetables and corn.
During the tour, we will visit the Pisac ruins and the colourful artisan market and later we’ll exlplore the town of ollantaytambo and the Inca fortress located near the town.
Sacred valley is renowned for its excellent climate, fertile lands and the waters of the sacred river of the Incas. The Sacred Valley Incas is embraced between the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo; it has wonderful landscapes where its inhabitants, native of the Quechua ethnic group, conserve many customs, traditions and ancestral rites. In the afternoon, we’ll board the tourist train to the town of “Aguas Calientes”.
Day 3: “Aguas Calientes” – Machu Picchu Tour – “Aguas Calientes”
Early in the morning, we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu at 05:30 a.m and we will arrive at 06:00 a.m to the entrance of the Sanctuary. Then, we’ll start the tour visiting the most Important places like: the agricultural area. In the urban area, we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Mother Earth, the Royal Inca Palace, The stone quarry, the Sacred Square, the Temple of the Andean Cosmology, the Temple of Wiracocha’s God, the Sundial or Intiwatana, the Temple of the Condor, etc.
The guided tour of Machu Picchu will last for about 2 – 3 hours; after what you will have free time to explore the archaeological complex or hike around like go up to Huayna Picchu, go up to the Sungate or Intipunku. Later, you will take the bus down to “Aguas Calientes” and enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon return to Cusco by train and bus.
Machu Picchu: the lost city of the Incas
Machu Picchu means Old Peak; It is a wonderful pre-Columbian Inca temple located at 2,400 masl or 8000 ft. Machu Picchu is located in the region of Cusco – Peru on the Vilcanota mountain range 500 meters above the Urubamba River.
Most Archeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca Emperor Pachacutec (1438–1472). Often referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas”, it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca civilization.
The Incas started build Machu Picchu around 1400 ad, but abandoned it as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest.
Although known locally, it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Mr. Hiram Bingham. Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction; with its spectacular location, it’s the best-known archaeological site on the continent.
In the high season from late May until early September, the maximum limit of 2,500 people arrive daily. Despite this great tourist influx, the site manages to retain its air of grandeur and mystery, and is a must for all visitors to Peru.
Additional recommended walks after your tour:
- Climbing to Huayna Picchu Mountain (2 hours, for it you need to book in advance, extra cost of $10 for this, please let us know when you book this tour because tickets are limited also we recommend to request a ticket for the 2nd turn at 10:00 a.m).
- Walk to “Intipunku” or Sun gate where ends the classic Inca Trail (1 hour and half)
- Walk to the Inca bridge located at the south of Machu Picchu (1 hour)
- All these walks are without a guide, are clearly signed and easy to find.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain Tour
For this tour, we will pick you up between 03:00 hrs. – 03:15 hrs. Then we are going to set out on a drive through the South Valley. The drive takes around 3 hours to get Hanchipacha community where we are going to stop for breakfast. After that we are going to drive you 15 minutes more to Quesiuno community. At this community we’ll start trekking for 3 hours approx. long to the rainbow mountain (most of the way is going up).
Along the way up we will enjoy amazing landscapes of herds of alpacas and llamas, the Ausangate Mountain, many red mountains and traditional local houses. When we finally reach our goal the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft.), you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. Then w’ll return by the same way. I you feel tired you can take a horse to ride from Quesiunu to the Rainbow Mountain. We’ll return to Cusco at 8:30pm approximately.
Day 5: Transfer out.
We transfer you to the airport or bus terminal. It depends on your itinerary.
