For Machu Picchu Explore we’ll wait for you in the airport of Cusco, and then you’ll be transferred to the designated hotel. The hotel for this trip is located near the main square. Once in the hotel you’ll be served a cup of Coca tea and while you enjoy your tea our staff will give you the briefing of the tour.
The following days our tourist bus and the Guide will always pick you up from the hotel and take you in the tour according the itinerary; in this tour is included all necessary things (Transportation, hotels, entrance fees, tour guide); except lunches, dinners and personal expenses. Day 1: Cusco
Arrive to the city of Cusco at any time; however, we must know your flight details for your reception and transfer to your hotel where you will receive a briefing about the trip.
Day 2: Sacred valley of the Incas
A full-day guided tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. In the afternoon, we’ll board the tourist train to the town of “Aguas Calientes” and accommodation in the hotel.
Day 3: Machu Picchu
Take the bus at 06:00 a.m up to Machu Picchu and explore it for 3 -4 hours with our guide. In the afternoon return to Cusco.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain
We’ll pick you up very early from the hotel and travel by bus for 4 hours, and then walk for 3 hours up to the rainbow mountain; after we explore it we’ll return to Cusco.
Day 5: Transfer out
After breakfast we’ll transfer you to the airport.
DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY FOR MACHU PICCHU EXPLORE
Day 1: Arrival to Cusco
Our tour package of “Machu Picchu Explore” begins once you arrive to Cusco at any time. However, we must know your flight details for your reception and transfer to your hotel where you will receive the briefing about the trip.
Day 2: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – “Aguas Calientes”
The Sacred Valley tour starts at 08:00 a.m. We’ll pick you up from the hotel and travel toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas in our tourist bus. Sacred Valley was the agricultural larder of Cusco in Inca times; an important source of food for the Incas. The valley is a lush of agricultural region that continues to supply the city of Cusco with much of its produce: especially vegetables and corn.
During the tour, we will visit the Pisac ruins and the colourful artisan market and later we’ll exlplore the town of Ollantaytambo and the Inca fortress located near the town.
Sacred valley is renowned for its excellent climate, fertile lands and the waters of the sacred river. The Sacred Valley is embraced between the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo; it has wonderful landscapes where its inhabitants, native of the Quechua ethnic group, conserve many customs, traditions and ancestral rites. In the afternoon, we’ll board the tourist train to the town of “Aguas Calientes”.
Day 3: “Aguas Calientes” – Machu Picchu Tour – Cusco:
Early in the morning, we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu at 05:30 a.m and we will arrive at 06:00 a.m to the entrance of the Sanctuary. Then, we’ll start the tour visiting the most Important places like: the agricultural area. In the urban area, we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Mother Earth, the Royal Inca Palace, The stone quarry, the Sacred Square, the Temple of the Andean Cosmology, the Temple of Wiracocha’s God, the Sundial or Intiwatana, the Temple of the Condor, etc.
The guided tour of Machu Picchu will last for about 2 – 3 hours; after what you will have free time to explore the archaeological complex or hike around like go up to Huayna Picchu, go up to the Sungate or Intipunku. Later, you will take the bus down to “Aguas Calientes” and enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon return to Cusco.
Additional recommended walks after your tour:
- Climbing to Huayna Picchu Mountain (2 hours, for it you need to book in advance, extra cost of $10 for this, please let us know when you book this tour because tickets are limited also we recommend to request a ticket for the 2nd turn at 10:00 a.m).
- Walk to “Intipunku” or Sun gate where ends the classic Inca Trail (1 hour and half)
- Walk to the Inca bridge located at the south of Machu Picchu (1 hour)
- All these walks are without a guide, are clearly signed and easy to find.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain Tour
Today we’ll pick you up at 4:00am. Then we are going to set out on a drive through the Southern Valley of the city. The drive takes around 4 hours to get Quesiuno community. At this community we’ll start trekking for 3 hours approx. to the rainbow mountain (most of the way is going up).
Along the way up we will enjoy amazing landscapes of herds of alpacas and llamas, the Ausangate Mountain, many red mountains and traditional local houses. When we finally reach our goal the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft.), you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. Then we’ll return by the same way. I you feel tired you can take a horse to ride from Quesiunu to the Rainbow Mountain.
Day 5: Transfer out.
After breakfast in the hotel we’ll transfer you to the airport.

To get to Machu Picchu you can walk along the Inca Trail for 2 days or 4 days; you also can take the train from the train station of Ollantaytambo (1:45 hours) or from Poroy (3 hours); or you can take bus for 6 -7 hours
The good news is Machu Picchu can be visited year-round. The most popular time, and therefore the most crowded, is in June, July and august. Low cloud cover during the dry season from April to October also means cold nights on hiking trails – so make sure to bring some thermals for a good night’s sleep. The wet season takes place from November to March. This is when the temperature rises and the region receives heavy rainfall.
