VITAL TRAVEL INFORMATION
Dreaming of a thrilling Peru adventure? Get ready to dive into a land of stunning vistas, rich cultures, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re chasing adventure thrills, exploring ancient mysteries, or craving a unique retreat, Peru has something special for every traveler. Before you grab your suitcase, let’s cover some key details to ensure an effortless and delightful journey.
ARRIVING IN CUSCO:
Landing in Cusco is an experience like no other. You’ll start in Lima with an international flight before catching a domestic one to Cusco. While renowned airlines like LAN offer numerous flights, they can be costly, so plan ahead. Be ready for possible flight delays due to Cusco’s high-altitude weather—consider it part of the adventure!
Prefer scenic routes? Try the bus! Though longer, it offers an incredible view of Peru’s diverse landscapes, adding a new dimension to your travel story.
BOOK YOUR TOUR:
Booking with us is a breeze. Hop onto our website and use our easy online booking tool to secure your trip. A quick deposit online, in our office, or via a trusted travel agent, and you’re set! Need extra help? We can sort out flights, layovers, stays, and add-on excursions. Got questions? We’re here to help you craft an unforgettable journey!
HANDLING ALTITUDE:
Altitude sickness can catch anyone off guard—age or fitness doesn’t matter. Recognizing symptoms is key. Stay hydrated, rest plenty, and take any needed meds. We suggest spending at least two days in Cusco to acclimate. Use this time to explore the city’s history and vibrant markets. Taking it slow means you’ll be ready for your adventure to Machu Picchu!
WEATHER WISDOM:
Andean weather is famously fickle—sunshine one minute, downpour the next. Whether you visit in the dry season (April-October) or beyond, always pack rain gear. A waterproof jacket, poncho, gloves, and layers will keep you comfortable across the Andes’ diverse climates.
MONEY MATTERS:
In Peru, carry both cash and plastic for convenience. ATMs are everywhere and safe for cash withdrawals. Currency exchanges in town often offer better rates than airports. Most places take credit cards, so keep yours handy for those can’t-miss purchases and souvenirs.
MEAL TIME:
You’ll find included meals listed in the ‘Inclusions’ section. Breakfast ranges from cereals and yogurt to meats and spreads—perfect with juice or coffee. Evening meals, when part of your package, offer a delightful dining experience, usually at local restaurants or within your accommodation. Remember to budget about $20 a day for meals that aren’t covered.
Got dietary needs? Tell us when booking. We’ll try our best, though not all places can cater to every need. It’s smart to inform us early to ensure we can do our best for you.
SAYING THANKS:
Tipping, or ‘baksheesh,’ is a cherished custom in Peru. For covered services, like dining and guides, tips are included. Not included? Outside meals or personal activities. Follow your Trip Leader’s advice on tipping and show your appreciation for great service.
ENTRY FEES:
We aim for accurate entrance fee details but rates can change. Check close to your travel date for any updates.
GETTING AROUND:
Depending on your journey, you might travel by air-conditioned coach, mini-bus, or tourist train. We own our coaches, which ensures top quality. Other options are vetted for your safety and comfort—all included in your trip price. So sit back and enjoy the ride!
HEALTH & SAFETY:
Your health is our top concern. If you have any medical conditions or allergies, let us know when booking or at least two weeks before travel. Bring enough meds, as finding them can be tough on the road. Follow food safety tips—boil or buy bottled water only. Protect against bugs and sun, especially in summer, for a safe, fun trip.
VACCINATIONS:
Make sure your vaccines for tetanus, diphtheria, typhoid, polio, and hepatitis are up to date. Check with a healthcare provider for any extra vaccines you might need.
SAFETY FIRST:
Your safety is paramount. Stick to your itinerary and avoid offers from unknown sources. Our professional guides ensure you’re safe and have fun. Stay alert and aware. Questions or concerns? Reach out—we’re here 24/7.
TRAVEL INSURANCE:
For peace of mind, travel insurance is crucial. It protects you from unexpected issues, even with prepaids. We strongly advise you get it before your trip. Understand payment obligations by reviewing our Booking Conditions, and see travel insurance as a smart backup plan.
